Feb. 6 , 2008 — Lagina Plumbing's safety program is paying off. Once again, the "mod rate" used to determine our worker's compensation costs has gone down. That means Lagina Plumbing can operate more efficiently for general contractors.

Our safe practices keep our crews on the job, without impeding progress on projects due to loss-time injuries.

Our safety record and lower mod rate also means we pay less in workers's compensation insurance, so we can provide our commercial plumbing services to general contractors more efficiently.

Four years ago we launched a comprehensive safety program. Since then, our mod rate dropped each year, from 1.19 to 0.82 in 2007 -- and a projected 0.73 in 2008.

With a solid safety program in place, Lagina Plumbing aims to attain an OSHA 10 card for each staff plumber in 2008 -- further proof of the company's commitment to safety.

"Along with our folks having an OSHA 10 card and actively participating in monthly safety meetings, we have engaged them to the point that they know that the savings from being safe are to be shared together as a team," said company owner Jim Lagina. "That's a formula for success."
