Lagina Plumbing has been selected to provide complete plumbing services for The Moderne, a 30-story apartment and condominium tower that will built in downtown Milwaukee starting in February.
“This is an impressive project that will make another bold statement about the vitality of downtown Milwaukee,” said Jim Lagina, president of the commercial plumbing company. “We’re honored to be part of the construction team. This project will clearly benefit from our prefabrication shop, which allows us efficiently build plumbing systems in a quality controlled environment.”
The building will be at the southwest corner of Old World Third Street and Juneau Avenue, on a lot that has been vacant since a Car X muffler shop was razed many years ago. Upper floors will have dramatic views of downtown and Lake Michigan. Residents will be in easy walking distance to restaurants and entertainment venues, including the Bradley Center, as well as shops and offices.
Lagina Plumbing will work with general contractor J.H. Findorff & Son on the project, which is expected to be completed in 2011.
“Findorff has assembled a high quality team of mechanical and electrical contractors who have worked well together in the past,” Lagina said. “That experience is especially important for projects of this magnitude, where cooperation and communications among the trades is essential.”
Rick Barrett of Barrett Visionary Development is the developer, while Rinka Chung Architecture is the architecture firm. The design will reflect the art moderne style.
The Moderne will have 203 apartment units, 14 condominiums on the upper floors and first-floor retail space.
Amenities will include a fitness center, restaurant and lounge, day spa, concierge services and indoor parking.
