Plumbing Parade and Comedy Show
Raises $4,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation
March 29, 2007, MILWAUKEE – Members and friends of the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association of Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin raised $4,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin in a new charity event on March 28.
Plumbers gathered at Miller Park and, in their company vehicles, paraded to Comedy Sportz downtown for a private show, dinner and auction.
“We had a lot of people work together to make this event happen,” said Jim Lagina, president of Lagina Plumbing and president of the PMC Association. “Make-A-Wish Foundation is a great organization with an important mission; we are happy to do something fun and different as an industry to help make a difference in a child’s life.”
Contractors, suppliers, and other industry friends contributed to the fundraising event through sponsorships, donations, the parade and silent auction. “It is the first time that we have done something like this and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We will continue to promote the plumbing industry and we look forward to working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the future,” said Lagina.
The event was capped off with a check presentation to Kevin O’Toole, long time board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and executive vice president of Hunzinger Construction. In turn, O’Toole presented Lagina and the association with a “star” representing the child whose wish was made true. Brandon, a 13-year-old boy, now can enjoy his favorite television programs and movies in his personal home theater.
Established in 1883, the PMC is an association of area plumbing and mechanical contractors providing education services, networking opportunities, labor relations and more. For more information about this event or the association, call Peter Lentz at 414-543-7622.
