Lagina Joins Apprenticeship Committee |
Sept. 14, 2007 — Lagina Plumbing owner Jim Lagina has been appointed to the Milwaukee Area Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
“With my two-year term as president of the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association coming to an end, and with impending apprenticeship board retirements, I felt compelled to share my 31 years of experience as a plumber with the next generation of plumbers,” Lagina said.
Lagina earlier this year purchased the Louis Schmitt Co. and changed its name to Lagina Plumbing, along with launching several business initiatives.
“People coming into our line of work not only need to know about the specifics of the profession but also how the industry operates and why good business operating practices are important,” Lagina said. “I can share my experiences in all of those areas.”
Lagina believes the apprenticeship program is a key factor in maintaining a strong industry.
“Our businesses today require top candidates that, even at their first-year apprenticeship level, bring value and a “can-do” attitude to our industry,” Lagina said.
The Milwaukee Area Joint Apprenticeship Committee is comprised of an even number of union and management representatives.
